      At the moment the area that I am studying is not being used in people because there is still a lot of research that needs to be done on it. In the future it could be used as part of a treatment program for lots of different types of cancer though.

      About 5000 work on my experiment and about 20000 in my lab. Of course I’m not directly helping all of them. But part of my work is about improving the image of our experiment to the outside world, through making some of our data available to the public. This helps all members of our experiment in a tiny way.
      Over 10000 members of the public have used these public data that our experiment have released. They have been used mostly in education to inspire the next generation of particle physicists!
      Current particle physics will also help people’s lives in the future, but we have no idea how many yet. For example, the World Wide Web was invented at our particle physics lab 30 years ago last Tuesday, and that’s helped billions of people across the world!
