• Question: Is being a scientist a good job?

      Yes, very good! It’s a “proper job”, but comes with lots of perks like chances to travel, constantly learning and trying new things, etc. There are plenty of jobs that are far less interesting, and being interesting is the best way to be happy with your work in the long run.

      It’s certainly a very rewarding job! It can get quite challenging at times, but this makes it extremely rewarding when you get over each hurdle! There can’t be many more jobs that are as intellectually stimulating as asking questions, then trying to answer them yourself. You get to travel a lot and work with very diverse and international people. When you speak to someone and they’re interested in your work, it makes everything so worth it!

      I think so! It’s interesting and very varied. Because science relies on collaborations there are lots of opportunities to travel and work with scientists from all over the world. I’m still pretty new to science but I already think I want to stay in science for the rest of my career.

      It is good if you find it interesting and you enjoy a challenge. I can’t imagine I’d enjoy it if I wasn’t really interested in what I do
