I use Python to build little scripts and a big program called Serpent, lots of things named after snakes for some reason!
Python is really handy for science as it’s easy to learn and really flexible, I’d recommend playing around with it if you’re interested in computer science 🙂
Serpent is written in a language called Fortran which is a bit trickier and older, luckily I don’t have to edit the program directly so I have avoided learning it for now. It’s very efficient though, which is good as Serpent takes hours and hours to finish a model, even if I use our supercomputers to run it!
