There are arguments for and against all the different energy sources we have today!
For instance solar and wind power is great because it doesn’t produce carbon emissions but also it produces intermittent energy which we haven’t figured out how to store effectively and it isn’t always appropriate- solar panels aren’t great in places where it’s always cloudy.
Likewise nuclear power doesn’t produce carbon emissions during operation but also does produce radioactive waste which can be dangerous when it’s not treated correctly.
But my favourite is one we haven’t finished researching yet, it’s a type of nuclear power called fusion. If we get it to work it could produce virtually unlimited energy, no carbon emissions and very very little waste. It would help stop global warming! So I’d say that one will be the best, as soon as we get it working…
This is a really nice answer from Emily and I’m not just saying that because I’m working to deliver Nuclear Fusion. Nuclear fusion just uses the material which makes up the battery in your phone (Lithium) and ordinary tap water! Why try to harness the suns power from afar with solar panels, when you can try and build your own sun on earth. 🙂
