Question: When you find out how to cure cancer with nuclear atoms, what will you do with this information? Who or what will you test it on to make sure it works ? :)

How long is the process of testing new radioactive atoms?

It varies quite a lot. There are 4 different atoms that I am studying at the moment and they were first suggested as a set for cancer therapy and imaging in 2012 and one of them has already been tested in its first person. Some will take a lot longer than that though. To treat cancer with these radioactive atoms, you need to attach it to a drug that’s designed to track down cancer and stick to it. A lot of the waiting is due to the time it takes to design these drugs because they have to be tailored to each of the radioactive atoms.
