I often speak what I think. I don’t have any major regrets, but there’s a lot of things I’d like to have done differently growing up! I should have really learnt to cook at a younger age for starters….
I really wish I’d eaten one less spoonful of cereal on the morning of 4th February 2010…
No honestly, I do regret times when I’ve forgotten to say please or thanks when people have helped or been nice to me. I wouldn’t be where I was today without those people
I wish I’d taken more modules using code in my undergraduate degree. I focused so much on medical and project modules that I neglected my coding skills, which are now basically non-existent apart from using LaTeX. So I’d always advise taking more coding courses!
I sort-of wish I’d been more studious while at university, but I got out of the habit of working hard during A levels, and it took years to get back into it. On the other hand, I did lots of other interesting stuff that I never would have done if I’d been in the library all the time, and it worked out ok in the end.
A couple of days ago I was really tired and zoned out when I was getting off a bus and for some reason instead of saying thank you to the bus driver I just shouted “See ya!” and I’ve been cringing about that ever since. Definitely regret that.
Sometimes when I’m falling asleep my brain remembers something terrible I did years ago and then I can’t sleep. But I can’t change anything I did so I just use it as a reminder to do better in the future.
Otherwise, I wish I started programming sooner and I wished I was better at asking for help when I needed it- both for studying and for mental health.
Should probably have worked harder at uni! And I should have got over my mental blocks on climbing harder things back when I had the time and body mass to do it 😉
