I don’t myself but there are biologists working in the same area as me that are testing some of the new radioactive atoms for cancer therapy on mice. Before they can be used in humans they have to be tested in test tubes and then in mice.

Nope, I don’t think I would be able to work somewhere that tested on animals, although, I understand that it is necessary in some lines of work.

But I do get to see animals at work! Our nuclear fusion reactor is right next to a farm and you can sometimes see sheep in the fields and recently there has been a pair of ducks plodding around site, maybe some chicks in the spring! 🙂

Fortunately I don’t have to do experiments with animals, though it is needed to make sure treatments are safe for humans. I do see rabbits running around outside my office though!

Not at all. We have some sheep on the CERN lab site, though, and that implies an official CERN Shepherd: I have never met this person, but I can dream. Apparently the sheep are there, grazing on top of a particle accelerator, to reassure the public that there’s no radiation danger.

The only animals in my work are the amazing humans that do the science!

Nope, although I know some nuclear waste scientists who work with bacteria to make contaminated land cleaner. That’s the closest to animals I get
