After I finished my degree in physics I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to do so I applied for graduate schemes and jobs as well as a few PhDs. I was actually interviewing for another PhD project when I was told about what I’m doing now and the idea of doing such traditional, fundamental science – making brand new compounds- was really appealing and as I was already interested in radiation protection, it made sense to follow it
I found the nuclear physics lectures really interesting during my degree so I decided to look into it more. I didn’t know that the nuclear physics/medicine area of science was a thing until my final year, when I did a research project with a hospital. I found that research project really interesting so decided to stay in the area 🙂
